My husband is from Southafrica and this is one of he's favorite tart, today my 10 years old, wanted to surprise her dad and she made one.
Melktert seems to have come straight from Dutch Medieval cooking, via the Dutch settlers in the Cape in the 1600s.the Dutch colonize Southafrica until the English went and try to rule the country.

4 cups of milk
1 full spoon of butter
1 teaspoon of vanilla

Cinnamon powder

Dough, in a bowl mix the butter with the sugar until light and creamed, add the egg and beat for 2 minutes, add the flour baking powder, and salt, mixed with a wooden spoon until you get a dough.
Press it down in 9 or 12 inch cake tin, cooked in the oven for 10 to 15 minutes, with the left over pressed in a grease proof paper and cut small round circles or use any cake shape cutters, sprinkle sugar before taking into the oven and cooked until is brown.children love this pastry as a biscuit or mini cakes.

Judo figures, cake toppers made in pastillaje, ready to roll icing or gum paste

Judo contest was on in my son's club and this was my gift for the rafle

The girl has brown hair mixed from red, yellow, and blue gum paste.

This could have been better if I took a picture of the positions when the children were practicing in the club.

Children made from icing sugar, pastillaje,

I made this lovely cake for my 2 years old girl, my olders loved, I personalized my three wonderful children.
This is lola my older girl cake topper, she was with two
legs up, but moving around so much one leg got broken, that is why we decided to make one leg up and the other down on the grass.the children had lot of fun making the flowers, the little cake, they even made a picnic basket with bananas and oranges that my son did it, that got broken because lola was so happy and she was handling too much, this icing is very easy to make at home using the right amount of water and natural powder gum, the only problem is that this paste is soft even if is mixed with egg, I think this is very cheap comparing to others paste that are glycerina or marshmallows base, also children loves using because they can eat while working with it.

We can see it better here.
This is tasha, my 2 years old I did her more grown up, she is holding an ice cream.
And the last one is the middle one my son billy he's got a angry bird tshirt and in his hand he has a sandwich.

 5 or onces of sugar
3 large eggs
1 spoon vainilla
7 or 8 onces of sift flour
